#127 meeting with incoming RI Director

1.    Before leaving the hotel we met with incoming RI Director Shekhar Mehta who spoke about his goals as an incoming director and his appreciation for our coming to this district to help not only with giving the Polio drops but also to help spread the word back home about what they are doing and how we can work together.  His goal is a Rotary India Humanity Foundation, providing service activities through 2013.  The projects fall under several topics.  Under Health is 7500 Heart surgeries, ten pacemaker Banks, 50 Eye hospitals and 10 Corrective Surgery Centers (limbs, Polio, Cleft lip and more).  Education would be supported by educating 10,000 children by setting up ten or more schools of high standards. Environment; planting 10 million trees, Peace Park - a world class Rotary Park, 400 check dams to provide clean water to 2000 villages, helping them in irrigation and farming. Also under environment water harvesting in cities and sanitation toilets in both rural and urban areas  with a goal of 30,000 toilets.  Empowerment would offer 400 vocational training centers and micro credit for 25,000 rural women. Disaster Relief would offer shelter kits, similar to Shelter Box.  Lastly, under Special Initiative would be Polio Eradication Contribution.
