# 132 Victoria (Calcutta, India)

I could write a book on this club,  chartered in june 1993 in the Durbar Hall of Victoria Memorial, something that no other club has done before or after. An all womens club which admitted men several years later.

LEPROSY ERADICATION is a top signature ongoing project for this club "Making the untouchables, touchable."  The leprosy eradication program was further promoted by organising several health camps to identify leprosy sufferers, financial assistant was provided to The Leprosy Mission hospital, for treatment, corrective surgery and rehabilitation of leprosy paptients.

Vocational Training

Besides the yoga and physiotherapy they have added  a mehendi application class and sewing class.

bulletBlood donation camp was organized jointly with Sevayani Medical Bank
bulletSecond mother & child health care camp and a healthy baby show was held at Garcha
bulletA health camp was organised at Ahiritola alongwith Uttar Kolkata Bandhu Samabesh and another at All Bengal Women’s Union
bulletChildren’s Day was organized at the Institute of Child Welfare.
bulletAn eye screening camp was held where 14 patients were identified for cataract surgery
bulletThe club actively participated in all the NIDs and SNIDs
bulletTree plantation was organized at two locations in the city
bulletPrograms for senior citizens have always been on the club’s agenda. An entertainment programme was organized along with the Interact Clubs of Pratt Memorial School and Balika Siksha Sadan. Lunch was sponsored for the aged and food donated to the Home.
bulletSaris and dhotis were distributed to the old and destitute at a puja pandal at Dankuni during the ‘pujas’.
bullet‘One for two’ was a scheme introduced by the president this year where members had to pay for one blanket, and the club matched by two more. Over a hundred such blankets were distributed.
bulletAbout 40 blankets were given to the orphan boys of Siddharth United Social Welfare Mission organised by the Interact Club of Balika Siksha Sadan
bulletAnother ongoing project is Sharad Parikrama, a program of pandal hopping with about 600 under privileged children of Loreto Day School, Sealdah, SOS Village, Apeejay School.
bulletScholarships were provided to needy and meritorious students, partly sponsored by the members
bulletOther activities with the youth involved attending the installation meetings of the club sponsored Rotaract and Interact clubs and having shared meetings and programs with them
bulletThe club cohosted the International RYLA organised this year at Serampore
bulletCulture Beyond Borders, a dance recital performed by artistes from Pakistan was cohosted along with several other clubs
