# 168 Roanoke Rapids

signing

memberTitus Workman,  speaker Carolyn Poythress
 and President Ervin Griffin
Roanoke Rapids meets at Ralph's Barbecue, which has been a staple in the community since 1941.  This smaller group can sing quite well, which they were pleased to hear on my comparison scale, I do believe they will be in the top 5 at the end of my 200 clubs.  I chose to go the healthy route and picked salad for the entree.  The clubs biggest fundraiser is a pancake and sausage event that sound yummy.
As you can read below the club sends out minutes of the meetings.  The speaker, from the Children's Service Program, gave an informative and enlightening talk foster care.

"The Roanoke Rapids Rotary Club met @ Ralph's March 7, 2011. Pres. Ervin Griffin called the meeting to order @ 6:30. Mary Lee Ransmeier led us in song "You're a Grand Old Flag" and we did our pledge. Greg did our invocation. Alma Hinton did our Rotary minute(Tommy McKnight is recovering from heart bypass surgery. We wish you a speedy recovery, Tommy.). Pres. Ervin introduced our guest, Colleen Bonadonna, Colleen is on a quest to visit 200 club in 200 days. We are club #168. She hails from West Point, Va. and she is doing this on a quest to END POLIO NOW and is donating her meal price toward Polio Plus. Titus Workman introduced our speaker, Carolyn Poythress. Carolyn is the Children's Service Program Manager for Halifax County and spoke to us tonight on foster care and child issues for those children that are removed from the home for their potection and care. This was a very interesting program, thanks Carolyn and Titus. Pres. Ervin led us in the Four WayTest to close our meeting. We had 17 members present and 1 guest.
