This club has the best city view to date. Meeting at the Vantage Point Restaurant (The 17th Floor of the Holiday Inn at the Key Bridge) has sweeping views of Washington DC which are spectacular. The members are very proud of this meeting location and I was given a personal tour of the views and history of the area. I love the international flair of this group, many are from other countries or have extensive travel histories, and lots of stories to share.
I believe this is the smallest club in the district, 14 members and eight were in attendance. Small in membership...huge in giving. This club was number 1 in the district for per-capita giving last year. An amazing accomplishment, congratulations!
Thanks to Dan for connecting his computer to the television for the presentation. I was asked "why does Rotary spend all this money on Polio when there are other diseases which are killing more people?" It is important to eradicate Polio so that it does not come back, as it did earlier in the year in Tajikistan. If we do not eradicate Polio, It will come back stronger than ever. We must finish the job, and yes we have many other areas to work on, with water, literacy and other health issues. But to just leave and not finish what we started would be a failure to the future potential polio victims.
Happy Dollars, yes I won again! $12 which will go to Polio Plus.
